Haver you ever looked at a piece of art and felt an emotional pull towards it? Or have you ever seen some packaging that made you feel curious enough to want to try what is inside? Have you ever seen an illustration that made you smile, or warmed your heart? Have you ever noticed that the design of furniture in a room can change whether or not you feel comfortable?
That emotional response that we have to art and design absolutely fascinates me. Design, art, illustration - all of it, when done with intention and authenticity - can create deep and meaningful connections. And those connections are what drives me to create.
Designing and illustrating for human connection
Lots of things can look pretty and polished, but pretty doesn’t always equate to connection.
There are an abundance of tools that are available now that can produce something that looks okay from an aesthetic point of view. However, creating real connections requires more than just aesthetics.
In my studio, I focus on the human elements of a project and identify ways that I can use design and illustration to connect with the intended viewer of the project.

I have a Diploma in Graphic Design. Unrelated to design but super related to how I do a lot of other things is my Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

I use a range of digital and traditional media in my work, it really depends on what the project calls for.

I was a lawyer for 12 years (what a ride!) and some of that info is still out there.

I do not use generative AI in my work. I do use it for other things though, and I use some software, such as Adobe Photoshop, that uses AI to perform certain functions.
AI is a really interesting tool. But for me, it is only ever a tool. I firmly believe that meaningful design, illustration, and art can only be created by humans.
